FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. (July 10, 2003) – In an effort to draw national attendance to its annual event, the Amelia Book Island Festival, a not-for-profit community organization that turns Amelia Island into a “Book Island” for one weekend each year, signed on local public relations and marketing firm, Jason Mudd & Associates, Inc.

“We are pleased to bring on Jason Mudd & Associates as our PR firm,” said Don Parker, chairman of the annual festival celebrating books and authorship. “We have a great event and through our partnership with the Amelia Island Tourist Development Council, we want to increase our attendance from out-of-town book-lovers and aspiring authors. It's a lofty goal, but don't be surprised when Amelia Island, Florida, becomes the ‘Book Island of America.' With Jason’s expertise in media relations, special events and the not-for-profit sector, we will certainly get closer to our goal.”

“This is going to a great account,” said Jason Mudd, who is the president of Jason Mudd & Associates Public Relations and Marketing in Fernandina Beach. “Amelia Island sells itself and this event is paradise for the book-lover seeking a delightful weekend getaway. My firm simply needs to do a good job of positioning the event and publicizing it to the masses.”

Jason Mudd & Associates, Inc. is a public relations and marketing firm providing measurable and strategic corporate communications, media relations, crisis communications and publicity services for businesses of all sizes and industries. The firm represents clients from Missouri to Florida, including Fortune 1000 companies; and the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival, Avalon Bird Store and Operation Skate in Fernandina Beach.

The third annual Amelia Book Island Festival is October 2-5, 2003 and features more than 30 authors of novels, mysteries, histories, westerns, suspense thrillers, poetry and books for young readers. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the authors and participate in workshops with authors, agents, editors, publishers and publicists. The festival features several events including “Rock-N-Roll Readings,” 25 author-led workshops and discussions, “Lunch-with-Authors,” “Dine-with-Authors” and “Authors-in-Schools” of Nassau County. The $15 festival ticket provides admission to all workshops and readings. The Lunch-with-Authors tickets are separate and also $15 each. Luncheon seating is limited. Tickets are available at BooksPlus, First Coast Community Bank, the Amelia Island - Fernandina Beach - Yulee Chamber of Commerce offices and by mail.
